Alkaline Living Secrets 5 Easy Ways To Balance Your Body

Last Updated on November 17, 2025 by Jacqualyn

Several years ago, I was incredibly fortunate to meet Richard Davidson—WOW, what an inspiring figure! At 81 years young, Richard is a retired U.S. Navy EOD Diving Officer and a committed Alkalarian. He embraced alkaline living way back in 2002, and that decision quite literally saved his life in 2009.

We first met on a Zoom call and hit it off right away—turns out we both love to talk! But somewhere in the middle of his story, my brain hit pause and I blurted out, “ALKA-WHAT?!” He just laughed, and let me tell you, that Southern gentleman has been coaching me ever since. He’s not some kale-crunching, over-the-top health fanatic either. Richard is educated, intentional, and most of all, kind. And y’all, he knows his stuff—especially when it comes to natural pH balance and clean living.

Do you know your pH? I sure didn’t! Turns out, your body’s ideal pH level is about 7.35. That number stuck with me. It’s the sweet spot for good health, and keeping your body in that slightly alkaline zone can help you feel better, think clearly, and age more gracefully. So stick around—I’m sharing my journey, live testimonies, and all!

What Is Alkaline Living?

Let me tell you straight: Alkaline Living is not a diet—it’s a lifestyle. It’s about making sustainable, long-term choices that support your health from the inside out. And believe me, there’s a big difference between chasing a trend and changing your life.

Over decades of research, scientists have found a direct link between the body’s pH balance and chronic diseases like Type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and even certain cancers. On very informative article was published at Johns Hopkins University. That’s serious business. The more I learn about Alkaline Living, the more I believe these health issues can be managed—if not prevented—by paying attention to what we eat and how we live.

I think back to my great-grandparents who lived well into their 100s. They raised their food, drank clean water, and didn’t have preservatives in every bite. That’s Alkaline Living in its purest form—simple, real, intentional. Funny enough, I wrote an article a few years ago that hinted at this same lifestyle, but I didn’t even realize I was already on the path! You may want to check it out!

Tips for Achieving a More Alkaline pH Level

Here are a few easy, everyday ways to start your journey with Alkaline Living—nothing fancy, just simple swaps and daily habits that add up.

  • Eat more alkaline-rich foods: Think leafy greens, almonds, avocados, cucumbers, berries, and seeds. These foods are packed with alkaline minerals like potassium, magnesium, and calcium.
  • Drink alkaline water: Alkaline water (with a pH of 8 or higher) helps neutralize acid and supports natural detox support. I use a simple filtration system and occasionally add pH drops.
  • Cut the junk: Reduce sugar, red meat, dairy, and processed foods. You don’t need to cut them out entirely—just shift the balance.
  • Reduce stress: Believe it or not, stress increases acidity in the body. Meditation, yoga, long walks, or even singing in the shower can help bring that balance back.
  • Move your body: Regular movement improves circulation, digestion, and pH regulation.

Y’all, I’m turning 65 soon. And I’m the first to admit—I’ve not always treated my body like the temple it is. But it’s never too late. My goal is to improve my well-being so I can travel the world and enjoy it.

Why pH Balance Matters More Than You Think

I’m not about to go full scientist on you, but here’s the scoop: Your body operates best when it’s in balance. That balance is measured by pH—how acidic or alkaline your fluids and tissues are. Everything from your blood to your saliva relies on staying in the optimal range.

Here’s a quote I love from Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, the man who discovered Vitamin C: “The body is alkaline by design but acid by function.” That means our body naturally leans acidic because of how we process food and energy. But if we don’t make choices to neutralize that acidity, we end up with inflammation, fatigue, and—you guessed it—illness. And Boy, doesn’t BIG PHARMA love us to be sick… Just sayin!

Western diets are full of acid-forming foods: sugar, preservatives, processed meats, and fried stuff. Meanwhile, countries like Spain, Sweden, and Greece eat more fresh produce, olive oil, and seafood, and they live longer! Go Figure…

That’s why Alkaline Living is not just about food. It’s about taking control of your daily choices so you can reduce inflammation through diet, restore energy, and thrive.

Boost Energy Naturally With Everyday Alkaline Choices

Now, who doesn’t want more energy? I used to hit a wall by 2 p.m. every single day—tired, cranky, and reaching for caffeine or sugar. Not anymore. When I started eating more alkaline-rich foods and staying hydrated with clean water, I noticed a huge difference. I wasn’t dragging through my afternoons anymore.

Simple things like:

  • Adding spinach to my morning smoothie
  • Swapping sodas for cucumber-lemon water
  • Snacking on almonds or fresh fruit instead of chips

These choices of immune boosting smoothies helped me boost energy naturally, without the crash. And let’s be honest, when your energy goes up, so does your mood. I smile more. I move more. I sleep better. It’s a win-win.

Natural Detox Support That Doesn’t Break the Bank

The wellness world throws the word “detox” around a lot, but let me be clear: Natural detox support doesn’t mean drinking green juice for seven days straight. It’s about giving your liver and kidneys what they need to do their job.

Here’s what worked for me:

  • Drinking warm lemon water every morning
  • Eating fiber-rich fruits and veggies
  • Using herbs like cilantro and parsley in my meals
  • Avoiding over-the-counter meds unless absolutely necessary

I noticed my digestion improved, my skin looked better, and I felt lighter, less bogged down. Your body knows how to detox—it just needs the right tools.

Sip Your Way to Wellness: Immune-Boosting Smoothies

Let’s talk smoothies, y’all. I love a good smoothie, especially when it’s packed with ingredients that support the immune system. Here are a couple of my favorite immune-boosting smoothies that are part of my daily routine:

Ginger Turmeric Lemon Smoothie:

  • 5 Slices of Fresh Ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon MCT Oil
  • 1/2 fresh lemon squeezed
  • 1 cup alkaline water or coconut water

Green Glow Smoothie:

  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 1/2 green apple
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup alkaline water or coconut water

Berry Beet Boost:

  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/4 cup beets (steamed or raw)
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

These smoothies are loaded with antioxidants, minerals, and fiber—and they taste good, too. They’ve become part of my morning ritual and help me stay on track.
